Infertility does not mean sterility. It can just mean not being able to get pregnant in a normal manner & just that it needs some help.

Treatment Procedures

Modern medicine offers a high success rate for most infertility patients at a very low cost. The most suitable Assisted Reproductive Treatment for a infertility patient depends on a full diagnosis of both partners.

1. Timed Intercourse

This is perhaps the most basic treatment for infertility. The procedure may include a urine surge kit to determine the time of ovulation upon which you and your partner be required to have an intercourse. This is done to ensure that the sperm is in the fallopian tube at the time the egg is released into the female.

2. Intra Uterine Insemination (IUI)

Also known as “Artificial Insemination”. It involves placing washed sperms (from husband or donor semen) into the uterus of the female with a small catheter into the cervix. Its basic advantage is that it is minimally invasive, gives less emotional stress & is least time consuming.  [ Treatment Details ]

3. In-Vitro Fertilization – Embryo Transfer (IVF-ET)

IVF is generally known as “Test Tube Baby” procedure. Normally the egg from the female ovary releases & unites with the sperm in the fallopian tube causing fertilization. Through IVF, this union is made to take place in a laboratory after both eggs & sperm have been collected. The fertilized  eggs are then transferred to the female uterus to pursue the process of growth. [ Treatment Details ]

4. Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)

ICSI is a microsurgical fertilization that involves the injection of a single sperm  directly into an egg. Numerous methods of assisted microsurgical fertilization have been  developed for use when male partner exhibits low sperm, is low on sperm count or suffers Retrograde Ejaculation.  [ Treatment Details ]

5. Other Procedures

Other procedures like GIFT, ZIFT are also available & your doctor would be the best judge for selecting these procedures.
